History of the Light Flyweight Division
Light Flyweight (also called Junior Flyweight) was created by the WBC in 1975, reflecting the gap between the smallest fighters and the established Flyweight class.
It is one of the most popular divisions in Latin America and the Philippines, producing icons like Michael Carbajal and Humberto González.
The Carbajal–González trilogy in the early 1990s helped legitimise the smaller weight classes on US pay-per-view.
Weight Cut Tips for Light Flyweight
Most light flyweights walk around in the 112–116 lb range and use a 7–10 day water cut combined with low residue eating.
