History of the Flyweight Division
Flyweight has existed since 1909 in Britain and was recognised by the NSC and later the IBU, making it one of boxing's oldest divisions.
The class has produced some of the most technically gifted fighters in history, including Pancho Villa, the first Asian world champion in any sport.
Modern flyweight is dominated by Japanese, Mexican and Filipino fighters, with stars like Naoya Inoue and Juan Francisco Estrada moving up through it.
Weight Cut Tips for Flyweight
